Torrefied Biocoal Pellets

A direct, drop-in replacement for thermal coal — engineered from Canadian hemp biomass with near-zero net carbon emissions.

Product Overview

What Are Biocoal Pellets?

HempTech's torrefied biocoal pellets are produced by heating hemp biomass at high temperatures in a low-oxygen environment — a process called torrefaction. The result is a dense, hydrophobic, energy-rich pellet that behaves like coal in every way that matters to a power plant operator.

Key Benefits

Why Power Plants Choose HempTech

No Infrastructure Changes

Our pellets are compatible with existing coal handling, milling, and combustion equipment. Zero capital expenditure required.

Meet Carbon Targets

Switching to biocoal pellets dramatically reduces your plant's Scope 1 emissions — helping you meet regulatory and ESG commitments.

Reliable Canadian Supply

Our vertically integrated supply chain — from New Brunswick hemp farms to your facility — ensures consistent, year-round delivery.

Proven Torrefaction Process

Torrefaction is a well-established industrial process. Our pellets meet international biomass fuel standards.

Competitive Pricing

Hemp biomass is an agricultural by-product, keeping feedstock costs low and making our pellets cost-competitive with thermal coal.

Canadian Origin

Domestically sourced and processed — no long-haul shipping emissions, no supply chain geopolitical risk.

Biocoal vs. Coal

Same Performance. Dramatically Lower Emissions.
